WordWeave
Client-Side Text Manipulation & String Processor
“How do you build client-side text processing without external tools?”

Case Study Index (4 Sections)↓
Why I Built This Tool
Developers frequently need to format raw text, convert casing for variable names, or clean up list data. WordWeave performs these string operations client-side without sending text to third-party online tools.
I frequently needed to transform list formats or convert string cases while coding, and sending sensitive text to random online converter websites felt like a privacy risk.
Technical Implementation
Implements pure string transformation functions `(input: string, options: TransformOptions) => string` that chain immutably.
Design Approach: Perform all text transformations in-memory on the client, ensuring complete privacy and sub-millisecond execution.
Engineering Decisions
Mutating input strings in state led to unwanted side effects when chaining multiple transformations.
Implemented pure functional string pipelines where each utility takes raw input and returns a new immutable output.
Slightly higher garbage collection footprint for very large text blocks.
Guaranteed predictable, side-effect-free text conversions.
Challenges & Solutions
Handling Invalid Regex Patterns Gracefully
Issue: User-typed custom regex patterns caused runtime exceptions when invalid syntax was entered.
Decision/Solution: Wrapped regex compilation inside try-catch blocks with live syntax error indicators in the input UI.
