01 Design Intent

Overview & Design Philosophy

Student societies often lack a centralized digital presence, relying on ephemeral social media posts that make past workshops and member projects hard to find. The ThinkTech platform provides a permanent, high-performance website documenting society initiatives.

Design Engineering Philosophy

Keep hosting costs at zero while maintaining maximum load speed by leveraging Next.js static site generation and client-side JSON dataset imports.

02 UI & Micro-Interactions

Typography & Motion Design

Design Tokens & Palette

Clean STEM-inspired emerald design palette featuring responsive hero banners and card grid layouts.

Motion & Physics

Built with smooth entry animations using Framer Motion and clean typography hierarchy.

03 Optimization

Performance & Core Web Vitals

Rendering Performance

Compiled using static HTML export (`output: export`), delivering sub-second load times on mobile devices.

04 Technical Rigor

Engineering Decisions

Decision #01 • Static Site Generation vs Database-Backed CMS
Problem:

Setting up a database CMS added unnecessary hosting complexity and maintenance overhead for a club website.

Decision:

Structured workshop and event datasets into version-controlled JSON configurations rendered statically at build time.

Tradeoff:

Content updates require a git commit and Vercel redeployment.

Outcome:

Achieved instant sub-second page loads with zero database infrastructure cost.

05 Execution Obstacles

Challenges & Solutions

Image Weight Optimization for Event Galleries

Issue: High-resolution event photos uploaded by members slowed down initial page loading speeds.

Decision/Solution: Implemented automated image optimization and lazy-loading wrappers for event gallery grids.
